Lately I’ve taken an interest in gene editing. Mostly I’ve been reading about CRISPR, but then I read an article about the Impossible Burger and got fascinated with the technology. Apparently, the Impossible Burger is the closest a meatless burger has ever gotten. Using genetically engineered yeast scientists are able to replicate heme which is found in meat and does a bunch of stuff I don’t feel like explaining.
This process is what makes Impossible Burger sizzle like meat, “bleed” like meat, and perhaps taste like meat. And everything I read kept saying the same thing, even sites that don’t appear to have a vested interest in us placing an order to Burger King to give it a shot.
